Larry in Openworld

Remember how LE bashed AWS services

Curious what would be target this time (after OCI’s failure)

OOW is unique, customer pays to attend. All other industries have trade show where company pays and provides customer tickets/passes, customer only pays for travel/hotel/food.

The huge high hanging fruit +billion $$ companies all use Oracle DB and ERP...and are “locked in”.

They are not looking to dump Oracle. But they are looking for DR...disaster recovery. They want redundancy spread out geographically to mitigate natural disaster down time, due to power outages.

Secondarily they want “backup/failover” but none of them want to pay 2X

I don't think OCI will disappear because it's the only cloud platform Oracle has.

Not true anymore. Now they have microsoft's cloud platform. What the hell would they need OCI for?

You are clueless.

LE has reduced himself to a 🤡 clown whom the world only pays attention to when he says outrageous things, and even then mostly to laugh at him. The Google guys, BG, JB are all so much richer than LE and their companies so much more successful that they just plain ignore him. Night night grandpa

Amazon mostly do ignore Larry, other than promoting they'd actually gotten rid of all Oracle recently. Oracle is not a competitor to them.

On the other hand, Larry has to be provocative for press coverage otherwise nobody would even know that OOW happened.

Amazon should just ignore Larry like most of us ignore our drunk Uncle at Thanksgiving.

“Yes, Oracle is dead serious on cloud.”

Let me rephrase that for you:

Oracle Cloud is ‘seriously’ dead

"I don't think OCI will disappear because it's the only cloud"

Yes, Oracle is dead serious on cloud. But most of these tinfoil hats prefer to spin everything into a certain nihilism.

A loss is a loss; breakeven is a loss; a win is really a loss.

Would be great if AWS played videos of the "turning off Oracle" pinata party on screens outside Moscone with "Keep Talking Larry" stickers as freebies.

It’s fair to say that given the new cloud alliance with Microsoft, the full exit from OCI will come sooner than later. You can’t let that cancer grow into the remaining profit centers. Soon all the Cloud marketing logos and such will disappear.

Given our new MS alliance, OpenWorld keynote reveal will be a Clippy chatbot in Fusion Apps.
