Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Back to the future

Well, with the Azure announcement I hope it is now clear to everybody what Oracle’s future looks like. Namely, Oracle is going back to being a DB only company supplying cloud based DBs for other companies SaaS apps, this having give up on its own cloud apps. it Logically follows that this will result in very significant layoffs, of everybody not directly involved in DB. Make take a few quarters but the direction and it’s impact is clear as day light. Yes, lots of people will post their disagreements here either because they don’t want to believe this or because that’s the company line, but get real - this strategy actually makes sense for Oracle, the failed OCI efforts do not.

How many were audit driven? Let me guess, the firemen’s lawsuit says 90% so I’ll go with that number. LOL!

We’re not losing; Oracle is losing. All we’re doing is staying the obvious, which some people desperately want to deny. Some because it helps them make more money, some because that’s what they’ve been hired to do, and some because they’re clueless. Which one are you @rzp? Pro or amateur?

Growing SaaS revenue? All we've been doing since FA is tread water. We used to have a growing apps business, then we stopped investing in it and put all our cookies into Fusion. Now, the only "growth" we get is one product or service cannibalizing another. Overall growth has been flat for many years now. FA was supposed to accelerate our apps growth, instead it gave us an overall flatline where the only way you can make things look good is if you cheery pick your results. The overall numbers don't lie, and they are flat.

Smaller company: less revenues and profits, fewer employees, lower share price. Read the writing on the wall and SELL!

Growing SaaS business, really? What would that be? Not aware of any Oracle SAaS offerings that are remotely competitive. Please enlighten me here.

SaaS, Autonomous DB, and legacy install base. That's the future of Oracle.

And honestly that can be a pretty good business. Maybe not the size of the current Oracle, and cloud ambitions definitely reduced, but we'll still be an important niche player.

I agree, but we do have a growing SaaS business that is viable. So, DB and SaaS it is. OCI will be relegated as the platform tonrun all of this, and it will run on the other clouds eventually too ( like Azure now).

Slow road to nowheresville.
