Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Stealth layoffs are even a bigger threat

Think about it, while we're debating rumors about potential mass and organized layoffs the sealth ones are being done company-wide every day, and they go on and on, claiming even more victims when you add the court through a longer period of time. Not that I’d like to welcome the mass ones, but the point is we can never be safe from layoffs, and at least, the organized layoffs give us some idea where the danger could come from and who could be hit

"I welcome mass changes, reorgs and reductions!!! We can't survive"

I agree with you. Need to do some serious cleanup. However, I think, it will just be a trim here, a trim there. The leaders at Oracle have pretty much been very gracious in their cuts relative to the size needed.

I welcome mass changes, reorgs and reductions!!! We can't survive under the current management and orgs, so WTH - try something new. If it doesn't help, then we're all toast anyway so why not make significant changes? Given the fools and tools in charge, I doubt the changes will be effective but at least it's an attempt to redesign the business and management.

LoL. You guys are more melodramatic than 13 yo girls.

Layoffs are part of the working world. IF you are caught in one, It's something you learn/bounce back from. It s---s ,but life/you moves on.

Stop blaming 'them.' It's you who sat there for years and now are trying to drown in your own self-pity.

I'm wondering where people have worked that announce internal HR strategy, reductions and headcount staffing publicly - or what public traded company asks their employees for feedback and consensus before they make financial decisions? No one wants to see a layoff (usually) but these wild accusations of stealth layoffs and master plans of global destruction seem very extreme. Yes, I've seen layoffs every pay period, not always large ones but enough that I get some good bye emails or notice a co-worker is gone. It's not reasonable to think a large corporation like Oracle can or should be asking employees to agree to headcount reductions or notify us in advance. We are (in the US) at will employees and have no guarantee of a job. That isn't really an Oracle thing, it's a legal reality of how businesses have lobbied to protect their own interests and our government supports it. Oracle isn't our family or best friend, their obligation is to increase revenue for shareholders, so of course they'll do layoffs when their sad business strategies don't work. Unfortunately, we have poor management, old products, no clue how to do business in 2019. So prepare yourself and get out on your own terms while you have choices or wait for the severance (which may not be as good as it is today - it's not mandatory and could go away)
