Yearly raise only 2% this year?

My store manager is telling us that the company is forcing them to not give anyone greater than 2% this year. For some reason I am not buying it. Is that true? Please if you're a store manager or know about this let me know. He did the same thing to us the previous year. He admitted to me that he got 20K in bonuses two years ago and since we are a high volume store and we did well, that did not surprise me. I just don't think it is fair to deny employees few cents raise while giving a store manager 20K. Does how much raise store managers give to their employees affect their bonus? Is it part of management controlled profit?

This comment hits the nail right on the head!

“Opinion: CVS is under pressure to deliver results for Wall Street. The leaders have put the company in this position. The store employees are feeling the pain of poor leadership.”

THAT is exactly what is wrong right now at cvs. It’s become all about Wall Street now. TOO much pressure to please Wall Street at the expense of the little guy at the bottom of the ladder!

The hourly employees jump to the conclusion that the SM has the authority to give them extra money

The bonus and the compensation % are two different and separate calculations. The company allocates a % for wage increases. Each SM has to allocate the increases and not go over budget. The budget at 2% means that someone could get 3% but someone else would get less than 2%. If the Manager and DL agree to give everyone 2% ( Highly Unusual ) than the Manager might tell you everyone gets 2% this year . Not true!

Read the hub today. It pretty much says the number one concern of our employees is base pay... sounds like the fs bonus will probably be going away. Look up total rewards in hub. My guess would be they raise the redline a little bit and then justify getting rid of the bonus. Most of the FS bonus is driven by Rx nowadays and everyone knows it. Why keep rewarding FS for RX achievement.

There was a time when the "redline" did't exsist...

The compensation part of the process does not open for managers until tomorrow. If he is telling you this he is feeding you bs because none of us know specifics until we can view the information on mySuccess. He could not possibly know for sure until tomorrow.

Based on last year, a store is given a 2.5% budget for every colleague on the roster. Some get more, some get less. Some get nothing. The rate depends on the performance rating, their current rate and where that rate is on the wage guideline quartile for their position. The higher the current rate, the smaller the percentage until the colleague is redlined. If the colleague has been with the company for less than the performance period (July to July) the rate is a prorated calculation of the months employed. Last year there was also a small range the manger could work with. As an example, a ME could be 1.5-2.0%. If the colleague was rated on the low side of a ME the manager could give 1.5 and use the extra for a stronger colleague.

Store manager here, Ive been redlined since start of redlines

S---es , I guess I haven't had a raise in 8-10 years - at least I have a pay check - I was highly paid back in the day , now just average ,

From what I understand 80% of our large market( 140 stores ) are redlined

Actually CVS is notorious for being one of the worst companies when it comes to redlining employees! So hate to tell you all, and not to take sides, but that one poster complaining about the one good raise they got, might be right on. Corporate pushed ALOT of people dangerously close to the redline! Notice how AFTER last years big raises, hours were cut. And so people didn’t get a chance to actually “cash in” on that raise. And now because of that raise, “oh look the redline’s right there!” Open your eyes people! That one good raise pushed many right up to the redline, and IF corporate cuts the yearly bonus given to people who are redlined, pretty soon the whole company will be raise and bonus free every year!

So you get smaller raises and you finally get a good one and your reaction is to complain? I don’t get it. CVS shouldn’t have given you anything and you would complain and it wouldn’t have cost a thing.

From a store manager. Yes that’s about right. From my area 2.5 is the max. Because nobody gets a OP rating

After last years "big raises", it's a wonder if we'll get anything this year... Last year was the best and only good raise I have ever gotten here at cvs, and I've been here for many years. Think about that... all these years and only one good raise. For the rest of those years the raises have ALWAYS been cheap! The way I hear it, last year they had to give out big raises because they are losing TOO many people! Although the official storyline is "cvs has come to the realization that they need to pay management more"

Giving you 4 percent instead of 2 percent wouldn't make a difference. There are so many more things that make more of an impact on mcp and ultimately their bonus. You said how well your manager did well 2 years ago so think about what contributes to a store doing well.

He’s lying. The less he pays you the more his bonus is. It’s smart.

The only way to make money in retail is to move up. Get promoted (it’s not hard) and you’ll start getting those sweet 10k bonus’ every year.
