Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Stack ranking is a failed concept

If they are doing secret stack ranking, yet everyone believes it is a merit system, then how the heck does that allow you to properly evaluate your progress, worth and career? As Admiral Ackbar said “It’s a trap!”.

It’s disingenuous. It’s a chickenshit way to be deceitful to your employees. It shows how Oracle sets you up for failure. Microsoft ditched stack ranking, hired a real CEO, got serious about the company’s direction, and they are soaring. Stack ranking is a failed concept from the 1990s that other decent companies have abandoned. Hear about any companies bragging about using it?

All you folks asking about how Oracle is to work for, take heed!

Couldn't agree more, @Zfz6Byc-1wdm.

Pareto distributions always happen and the 80/20 rule always applies. Large companies figured a long time ago that you can always let go of the bottom 10% and improve the bottom line.

Microsoft doesn't "have stank ranking" any more, but don't believe the marketing. After their "connects" the ranks are very much placed in a stack-like pile.
