Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Cost cutting is not a strategy

The only thing the two so called CEOs and tired old grandpa Larry preoccupied with his young girlfriend seem able to do is cut costs by laying off people and replacing them with less experienced and expensive ones to maintain EPS and buy back massive quantities of oracle shares, but that is not a strategy. Surviving long term requires competitive offerings and happy customers, neither of which oracle has or is investing in. Dead end heading straight for the corporate graveyard. Game over !

You’re confusing strategy for “bettering Oracle” with the strategy of the CEOs meeting their pay objectives.

The former is not a focus of any multinational corporation anymore. Corporations are beholden to one entity, the shareholder (aka hedge funds, mutual funds, pension funds, executives, and directors). They no longer have any consideration for the employee, community, or country.

But yes, destroying a company is not a winning strategy any more than tariffs are.

Doesn’t make the company any more competitive, just boosts EPS short-term. Still a dying company !

Replacing Americans with cheaper Indians H1Bs is one way of doing cost cutting.
