Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Is Oracle really that bad?

I personally don't think so. Yes, we don't have job security. But very few people in our industry do. Other than that, I have no major complaints about my job.

Meanwhile, I know of a few people who left and are not too happy where they landed now.

Basically, it's not perfect here, but very few places are. So I'll stick to this job for as long as I can.

"Get with the program, its called the layoff not the boot lickers."

Right. There are no brownie points here to be had so don't understand that accusation.

But, I will point out, this is not a job search engine. The job search/hunt page is thataway --->

No, no it's not. It's actually quite easy relatively speaking.

I think most of the outrage and embitterment is those who camped out for years on ez street, got laid-off, then found out their skillset/demeanor is not in high demand.

It's a classic case of spoil/sheltered child meets the harsh realities of a cold and competitive world. They then blame their parents (oracle) for not 'preparing' them.

Some posters seem to think that other companies are so much better for employees, but in my experience they are pretty much all the same regarding layoffs and lack of raises. Yeah, there are a few unicorns, but in my experience the unicorns don't last. And they're hard to find. There's a reason why Dilbert is so popular. Dysfunctional workplaces aren't the exception.
