Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Sam's is not that bad!

Seriously people, have you tried some of the other retailers? Sam's is far from perfect, but compared to so many others it is really not as bad as some people here are trying to make it sound.

If you are really that unhappy, leave. But I have a feeling most would be trying to find their way back sooner than they think.

I have seen droves of people leave Sam's. The amount that tries to come back is very small. Part of that is, why would anyone leave retail and try another retail place? I have seen many people leave Sam's. I can't even count them all. But I can count the number of people who have come back. I'm one of them. I left and would never go back.

I had a former associate tell us they were getting a better paying job and working hours by going to Petsmart. According to the former associate this was the best move on their part and they were getting away from the horrible management at Sam's.

Irony of the situation is that 2 former assistant managers work at the Petsmart.

A locally owned gas station owner recruits openly in our club. He tells the associates he will give them a 7 to 3 schedule and no weekends plus a starting rate that is a $1 more than the club offers. About a month into the position that all changes. They are told if they want to keep the pay they now have to work closing shifts and weekends. When an employee starts with this gas station they sign a job offer with the infamous line of employment is not guaranteed and terms and conditions can be changed.

Our local Walmarts about 2 years ago lost a $1 off their pay due to company changes and you should have seen the flood of associates leaving. Many tried to come over to Sam's Club and many tried to get back on with Walmart.

He's wrong. Associates are going to leave because the new block schedule conflicts with family time or some other important obligation. No job should come before your family . This time associates are leaving for the right reasons.
