Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Is it worth it?

How doe other people feel about this whole situation of uncertainty? I gotta say I;m fed up with it, and I’m closer to the thought that hanging around isn’t worth it. It could be better and it could be worse if I leave, but at least at other companies I wouldn’t be scared and stressed out to this degree.

Leave already. I wish more people would go go go.

Like i've said before, Oracle does NOT have a people leaving problem. They have a people staying beyond their welcome problem.

If you have a family then it's worth it, otherwise retool and move on.

If you are an IC, developer, you will have hard time getting a job since anyone at oracle is more or less working with outdated stack (with some exceptions) nobody other than old banks, or insurances, etc. are using java se 7 (of course there are with J2SE 1.4 and so still around but not many).

Kubernetes, Docker, springboot are the bare minimum to work in any tech house these days. so if you are a tech buckle up and prepare for it before they get to lay you off or you leave on your own.
