I will graduate from college next week, and I am engineer student, is Oracle a good company where I will have a future?

I was a female engineer and was working for a manager who was a total pervert. The answer from me is: NO, Oracle is not a good company to work for.
OP: is it worth? it depends. pros and cons already highlighted on this thread are true, for an unexperienced graduated is a good way to enter the IT world from the front door, but it depends on the org you will be hired in.
DB and OCI are good, and you can learn a lot and enhance your kowledge, to be able to resell yourself on the market. other orgs are just a dead end, nothing to learn there. a different story is the legal org, but I don't think you have been offered to enter there since your engineering degree.
to sum up: good salary, good benefits, no technical innovation unless in DB and partially in OCI, costant layoffs in every lob, very bad environment heavily competitive with nothing close to xlobs teamwork,
It depends. I was lucky, I worked for two outstanding people and had more great people as peers. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. From The senior Director on down, I honestly could not have asked for better. Between that and the work I was doing, I probably stayed longer than I should have. Having said that I know people in different organizations that are as toxic as toxic can be. Corporate wise, I would say Oracle is one of the worst, Between the lack of raises and the receding benefits, that is something to consider, but that be mitigated by working in an organization that is outstanding and the work is highly rewarding.
If you can read these postings, and still have to ask, I question your common sense. Everything you see here is consistent with reviews on glass door. The company is being sued for s-x discrimination and breach of contract. They have spent and squandered tons of money and resources on the google suit, going into its tenth year. If you can carve out something good for yourself out of that flaming pile, go ahead. It just seems that there are better employment options for a newly minted engineer.
The answer depends on how good of an engineer you are. If you are a top class engineer who wants to make an impact, you may try your fortunes somewhere else. Given your skills and potential, you'd be put in a better environment, more interesting projects/products, be better trained and your total comp will be better. A quick research and talking with peers and industry professionals will give you list of companies that would fit the bill.
However, if you do not feel you are a one of a kind engineering gem, Oracle may be a good place for you to start, learn and grow. Your total comp will be good, and if things play out well you may have a solid career here. You may have noticed that we have a lot of layoffs, probably much more than a company on the aforementioned list may have - take that in consideration too. This may not be something that will be on top of your mind in Year 1, but very quickly it may become something that will be concerning.
Good luck!
If you go to work for Oracle, sooner or later you will be sorry you did. But it will happen. Go somewhere else.
Oracle adage I’ve heard for years - “Oracle eats their own”
It all depends on the team and product you are going to work on. if you are lucky to be in good team with lot of positive minds around you, go ahead and accept the offer. Better try getting the above mentioned details from your friends and then make your mind. In nutshell it's not the company rather product and team - this is also true for any other software company.
OP, if you are asking that question, you don’t deserve to work for Oracle. Oracle should not extend you an offer. Oracle needs driver not passenger.
Take it if Oracle is your only option.
Nice post. Just as good as the last time you put it up. Good work troll.
Don't listen to the has-beens who've been laid off and can't get back on their feet. A lot of them dwell here now to fill out their days/nights. Just look out for any negative post(s) with an end is near theme.
Treat Oracle like any other company that you will come across. You come, get projects/exp under your belt, build a network, get paid, then move on to other projects/companies.
You are 20+ years late, Oracle was great company, but no more. Come over and you will definitely find out what “learn by mistake” mean.
Stay away at all cost. Total waste of your time.
I have been at Oracle since I graduated 2 years ago. I have made great friends and colleagues and wouldn’t trade this for anything. All companies have their pros and cons, and this pace definitely have more pros.
All of this is true. You should use Oracle for your benefit. Good pay, good opportunity to learn, good name on your resume and building block for your career.
Just don't expect the company to look after you long-term or care about your needs, in the end you're a number. But honestly that's the same everywhere.
Good starting salary, stock options, and excellent benefit package. Interesting projects to work on if you get on the right team.
I believe it is still a good place for student who just graduated b/c Oracle did give a really good pay ... for college hire. This is the truth, the TC can beat FB/Google new grad lol
For the technology standpoint, if you are in OCI or DB team, you definitely can learn a lot of things.
It is a good start but not a good place for stay a long time ..
If you are on H1b, I would say, think thrice before joining. Don’t neglect the Negativity completely that’s here. I graduated from CMU and joined Oracle. I’m on H1b and got laidoff in 6 months. Happened to lot of new grads who joined with me. Very few teams internally to switch for, if you hit in layoff. Struggled a lot to finally get out of Oracle. There are layoffs in other companies too, but other companies don’t treat as bad as Oracle.
I agree just learn as much as you can and don’t listen to negativity as it will not be good for your career. Oracle is a great place for kids right out of school as well as for seasoned engineers.
If you work hard you will do well. Good luck.
