I can understand civil suit but payoff on "criminal" for money/racketeering.....if I wasn't guilty of a crime, I wouldn't pay.

Any $100B organization gets sued on a daily basis. Getting sued and losing a lawsuit are very different things. And even when one is lost.....it usually means minor tweaks to the operation and thousands of “plaintiffs” getting a few bucks apiece. But a lawyer somewhere gets his big payday.
