Is there really a world outside the U.S, imagine that
Anyone from Perth would find California cheap by comparison.
In their home countries, with some retiring overseas.
I move to Calif from Perth may be a challenge.
Sacramento is inland with the Sacramento river in the middle. Similar to Austin.
Is Sacramento on the water?
"I heard California is cheaper as you go farther south. Is that why San Diego is cheap?"
Try Sacramento north of Bay Area for more reasonable California housing prices
Retired and live about an hour and twenty minutes north of Houston.

I retired in Coronado, resort city located in San Diego County, California. Pardon me, as I go flip the two inch thick aged porterhouse steaks on the grill for me and my guests and refill the Mosco mule c---tails. After 34 years, retirement life from Chevron is good.

I'm a California born and raised. All my 3 children still live in California. It's expensive, crowded and the politics are screwy but it's home

California is by far the best,if you can afford it. Texas is cheapest. Louisiana if you have Cajun in-laws. Not sure why anyone would go elsewhere.
Not Texas, and well north of the Mason-Dixon Line.
Grand Isle
I’m retired and live in a surrounding city of the greater Houston area.
