Project Manager at AT&T is a joke. None of them can talk PMBOK and all they know is how to code things in PRISM
If you are a project manager in the US yours days are numbered. Look around at the outsourcing to third world countries that perform the same work at less than half your pay. It's very sad the company is loosing customers as they hire incompetent contractors that are bouncing customers around the world and the suits continue to make millions in bonuses.
"Project Manager" is a job title that does not mean much at AT they have had no formal project management training, and are not working on daily things that fit the definition of a project. I am not bad mouthing these folks or saying that they don't add any value in their areas, I am only pointing out that they found themselves stuck with this job title at some point. So, it really depends on what organization you're talking about and what your team of "project managers" is working on.
We need all the help we can get, support is buried at the moment. For real AT we really all need to keep working despite any uncertainty.
Keep going...do what you do to the best of your ability. Don’t worry about the trivial stuff you have no control over. I promise you, people are trying to sell, people are trying to build, and the vast majority are trying to do what needs to be done to make it so we don’t have to lose more people.
Everyone is running thin, everyone wants to succeed, and everyone needs to push hard. We work here and have way more control over our destiny than this site gives us credit for.
I will do my best tomorrow and every day after. We all should commit to do the same. Be proud of what you do because you really are part of something amazing! I go to bed every night knowing I work with the cream of the crop and we will rise to the top.
I hope someone needed to hear that from a coworker because I am proud to work here and I know we will overcome these challenges. Together we stand, divided we fall.

They have been taking their yearly hits. In fact it’s tough to find anyone who deals with some of the older Legacy stuff. Either left one way or the other or reassigned. With all of the downsizing some are now trying to fix the automation processes that never worked.
