IBM Watson Health Marketing - Boston, Chicago and Raleigh (COLOCATION)

IBM Watson Health Marketing teams were notified of co-location last week... This will be impacting anyone who does not live in Boston, Chicago and Raleigh.

The terms are exactly the same like the previous notifications - folks have 30 days to declare if they will move. If they chose not to move they are out after their 90 days is out...

Co-Locators will be able to march "Shoulder-To-Shoulder" into the tar pit...

@1aau,

Agreed. Use as much time as possible and just work remote. Pretty soon they might just quit asking you to get up and move. I have seen the dumb colocation initiative arise so many times just to be ignored 1 week later. Most managers care if you do your job, not "where" you do your job from.

"Just move".

ha, you move and then IBM lays you off anyway. Now you've incurred all sorts of additional costs and you are out of a job. Sounds great.

The fact they are willing to move you as part of relocation is a indicator you are already on borrowed time.

The best thing to do is to accept the relocation. Negotiate as much time as you can before you must physically move. Use that time 100% to find a new job outside of IBM - presumably in an area where you are currently located.

In the previous co-locations IBM experienced 50-70% resignations. As folks have said, people with roots in their communities will most likely not move (especially with how good the economy is currently). Given a 50% speculative manpower loss, does anyone know how many folks we are talking about? Also how does any organization survive a 50% loss of experienced marketers in one quarter. It certainly appears that IBM is de-emphasizing Watson health big time. So much for the moonshot ehhh. Yet more mis-management tolerated by the do nothing board. Hell of a job Ginni hell of a job.

Just move and keep your job. Then once things settle in you will be working from home in no time.

Colocation is never enforced long term, nobody would work for IBM if it was. Think about it.

Hang loose

@maa and all the over 40s with roots where they live will quit, so no eeoc complaints possible. This is the new playbook - tell people they aren't wanted, give lots of working notice, and hope enough leave voluntarily so they don't trigger complaints or notification requirements.

IBM Watson marketing should all be fired for their ludicrous and false claims they made

Right out of the IBM HR and finance playbook. Few people will relocate and those laid off will get a whopping 30 day severance, regardless of how long they have worked for the company. This company has no shame.
