Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Compliance/Safety

I used to be an APM. Compliance and safety were extremely important. Not anymore. Managers do what ever they want. Laws, policies and procedures don't matter. They are above all that. No accountability. Managers could care less about associates needs. I'm also retired military and see that the new managers can't lead, can't communicate and don't respect others. If I treated my platoon like they treat our associates I would of been fragged.

Reply to @ZX4gcs3-2uwh; the gas station has to have a "C" Operator on duty any time the gas station is opened. There also has to be an "AB' certified manager for the Club. Should be two in each Club, that way if DHEC for environmental portion (gas) shows up or Weights and Measures division the Club always has an "AB" operator available. If the Club is caught without a certified "C Operator" on duty, it will be really bad. Most probably the gas station will be shut down, H/O involved, CM, Manager on duty, and or "AB" certified manager and any other manager aware of what is going on will be held accountable up to termination. Without a "C Operator" the "AB" certified manager should run the gas station. Not to mention the Hugh fines involved; there is the $'s, now you have H/O's attention.

Anyone know what the law is requiring someone to work at gas station? They are having just anyone go out there and the few people that work there that are trained don’t want to get fired if someone else screws something up or they have an accident out there.

I completely disagree with 1msw. Of course, there were as many different APMs as there were people, meaning that not all were created equal. We had some that were lackluster, but one of ours in particular was very hard working and took everything to heart. We had fewer accidents, and the ones we did have were often overturned due to her diligence. The current grocery/compliance manager is also outstanding and he has reversed many claims as well. When it is done well, it is a position which really should be a job on its own with no other responsibilities.

The entire Ap side of Sam's has been trying to prove its worth for years. Accidents never decreased, shrink never decreased. Pencil pushers sitting in the office increased. The number of non member focused tasks increased. Checklists that solved no issues.

The increase in shrink is related to controls on the front end, and the apps not because of less APM focused nonsense.

The regulatory burdens should fall on individual managers, not a role created to keep checklists in line.

Shrink was important too. .22 was considered high shrink. We now have clubs (.51), (.73), (1.4) Theft is on the rise and it doesn't seem to matter. Sales will solve all issues.
