So who takes the heat when local tv stations raise the cost of carry by the cable companies. Not the tv station. If there was no demand for ESPN, they could lower the cost by $5 a month.

DirecTV dropped one of our Locals here in Raleigh. It p-ss-d off the wife, so I got her to embrace Sling, which I have wanted to switch to (Cuts the TV bill from 150 to 50). Called to cancel and luckily I was at the end of my billing cycle, since AT&T no longer prorates final bills.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face!

As these networks lose viewers they lose advertising dollars, they need to make that loss up elsewhere so they demand those that carry their content to pay more for it. AT&T/DirecTV have apparently rejected this notion and feel either they don’t need them or that they’ll eventually settle for the same contract or less.
