Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Loss of hours.

Have other stores lost a ton of hour in July? Mine has lost 30 now and I don’t know how they expect me to run this store. I could barely get by before. And this store does make budget. I give up. If the truck taskes 4 days to get done then so be it.

This is horrible! The 3rd week of July 2018 we did 1300 scripts that week. I can’t remember how many hours we had.. but I know it was about 75-90 tech hours. The 3rd week in July 2019 we have 39 tech hours!!!! How the heck do we survive on that?! Not only that, our district manager will only let us use 22 of our front store hours when we have 113 demand front store hours. Is this even legal? We are opened 64 hours a week. 39 tech hours plus 22 front store hours equals 61 hours. That’s not enough and that is so very wrong to my beloved pharmacists. Not to mention, when the front store person is there he is not to help with customers, only money and putting away truck and ordering. When the pharmacist has people’s lives in their hands. What on earth can be done about this?? Is there anything anyone can do? It’s insane.

Same thing happened to my mom after working there for 21 years. CVS is inhumane.

To the bored poster, eat me $hit head! After working 16 years and enduring the past three at CVS. My hours kept getting cut as well as my coworkers. My 6 year old broke her arm when she fell. Went to emergency, hospital had all our insurance info, said would come by later with a copay amount. They came sooner not later, informed me that I no longer had insurance, asked for payment in full... Huh? Call insurance co. Who informed me, my employer stopped paying because I no longer qualified.

Called HR who informed me, I no longer qualified because I was not working enough hours to maintain my benefits.

Incredible, how many more will lose all their healthcare benefits. You may only see hours being cut as a way to save on payroll but the bigger picture is all the money saved when their employees no longer qualify for insurance due to not working enough hours.

Our hours are very tight, so I really don't know what corporate is thinking. It's not quite critical levels at our store yet, but it's sure heading that way... I can tell you If we go below a certain number, it'll be hard to give people all the hours they need. We'll have to start cutting whole shifts out of people's schedules. That starts to go down that slippery slope you don't want to go down, because too many people in my store depend on this job to pay their bills. And a few people have been here a long time, not sure what they would do if things got to critical levels on hours.
