Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Mainframe workers becoming IBM employees

IT just announced today that Mainframe workers will no longer be Humana employees as of 8/15. They have the option of working for IBM. There is NO severance payment if they don't go to IBM.

Is this true? In all honesty, if it is, I don't see it as much of a downgrade. Everything is better than Humana.

Once the CAS (mainframe) guys leave, Humana's going to be royally f—ed. Might be a backdoor strategy by IT though to finally put a bullet in CAS and force them to update the claims platform.

5 years ago there were only a half a dozen people who actually knew how CAS worked>>>>

I've heard that the contracts for the employees is only for 18 months and that IBM only has to keep them that long. Truthfully, of course, anyone could be gotten rid of at any time anyhow...

I'd go to IBM board here and ask what will happen with those folks.

They will tell you how IBM handles transfers (not a good story)

IBM's benefits package isn't as generous as Humana's, and the mainframe staff generally have been shielded from the chaos and bad management found elsewhere in the company.

If this conversion is successful, the rest of the infrastructure team should be very afraid.

It is true. From what I understand, the offer includes comparable benefits, and employees will keep their years of service.

https://www.mbiconcepts.com/comparing-net-income-per-employee.html

Net income per employee is a common productivity metric that determines how effectively a corporation is managing its bottom line. It is an effective method to visualize management effectiveness over time. Though it is only one of many measures for considering the overall health of a corporation, this particular one—especially when evaluated over extended periods of time as in the 100+ year chart below—is effective in showing gains or losses in an organization’s management effectiveness.

At least they are giving them a job. How many employees of Humana never are allowed back in the doors despite all their claims
