As bad as things are now at Walmart, they’ll only get worse in the following years - automation, Amazon, you name it… There is no future in retail. Use the time here to acquire some new skills and run away from the entire industry as fast as you can. Days when you could actually build a career here are long gone…

This is a pile of c-ap. Retail is not going anywhere. It has to downsize to make room for online. What do you expect? Its 2019! Theres no such thing as job security anywhere, open your eyes. Roll with the changes or just leave sounds like you just need a good excuse anyway. Dont bring others down with with false claims. Have faith and rise up to the challenge people. As long as people shop they are going to want to touch and see.
Amazon has employees too btw 250,000+ and hiring! I dont see how that makes things worse for retail when you are using a lot of the same skills there.
Walmart is #1 and when it gets settled more into this online trend it will still be #1

I was forced out of Walmart after many years, and at first it seemed like a crisis. One of the first moves I made was trying to get on at Aldi---they actually pay very well for a retail job---but that didn't pan out.
Now? Three plus years later?
I have an industrial job that pays THREE TIMES what wm was paying, and with a better benefits package than any wm manager gets! Life is sweet, and I couldn't be happier being away from the stress that is retail-----and the HELL that is Walmart!
