We tend to read into those statements what we want to hear. I don’t believe that he specified that those jobs would be in region CWA positions. 29 other states where fiber is being laid and cell towers being climbed for First Net. In fact within our states we could have people doing that in other carriers territory. They talk about expanding our retail presence out of region. That could include carpenters, plumbers to reconfigure old stores or build new stores. That statement gives him a lot of latitude to meet that number.
People keep saying Randall "promised" 7000 jobs with the tax cuts. No, he just made a comment at an economic club almost 2 years ago that, "Every billion dollars AT&T invests is 7,000 hard hat jobs." He never said he wasn't going to cut anywhere in the company. Just a simple statement that the more capital they investment, the more jobs are needed.
