Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Aetna Employee Perspective of Merger

Aetna subsidiary employee here. Hate that CVS bought us and honestly hope Judge Leon throws a wrench in this deal. CVS s---s!!!!

CVS strategy is going to be a flop. Who in the world wants to go to a CVS for their medical care??? The suburban CVS down the street from my house reeks of urine in the pharmacy area, is filthy, run down and the people that work there seem unhappy and stressed ALL the time. After reading the posts on this board I understand why now...CVS is a c-appy, low rent employer. I would rather go to Mexico for medical care than to CVS.

Attended the first CVS company meeting recently. Larry Merlo looks like a sleazy, used car salesman.

Was completely appalled when they had some CVS HR guy explain they target employee populations most employers don't - the elderly, students, low income and veterans. Then they played a video about some girl who was homeless, living in her car with a baby that became a pharmacy tech and her life is great now... Yeah right. How in the world can anyone live on what CVS pays a pharmacy tech??? It would not surprise me at all if she still lives in her car with her kid. I would imagine most CVS employees qualify for Medicaid or housing assistance due to their ridiculously low wages. CVS does not pay a living wage for many positions.

Aetna raised anyone who was not making a living wage up to $16.00 years ago. CVS should be ashamed they target and exploit vulnerable populations as a source of cheap labor. It's all about profits by any means these days.

Aetna used to be a solid place to work. I made over 70k last year as a supervisor. I get six weeks of vacation a year and our 401k matches at 6%. Our insurance s---s, but everyone's does these days. All that will go away I have no doubt.

The benefits CVS offers are all way worse than what we have now.

I know layoffs are coming. Would not at all be surprised if something major happens in July. Our company has reduced/eliminated overtime, has a freeze on hiring except for sales positions, and has started outsourcing. I hear the CVS severance package is not in line with most companies.

So happy Mark Bertolini got his golden parachute for selling all of us Aetna employees out.

Currently work for company after merger.. Been working for Aetna and the benefits are horrible they have taken time away reduced 401k percentage and the $16 an hour is a joke compared to other healthcare companies.. wage is just enough to keep you above the poverty line...when average rent in my state is at least $1000 a month

Hopefully Judge Leon frees Aetna from CVS. I thought Aetna senior leadership was bad but CVS is a joke. Been at Aetna over 20 years and this deal only helps the Board, Bertolini and high volume shareholders. The combined debt of both companies is enough to see this won’t work long term.

Going to a cvs for medical care would be a new low point in someone's life. The minute clinics are a joke with "health care professionals" who don't give a c-ap about their jobs. The operating hours are a joke too.
