Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Is there any chance that oracle will be sold?

Is this a possibility that oracle will trim down and reduce the workforce and is doing this whole thing about splitting global services from the rest to prepare for a take over?

I mean is it even a possibility considering the size of oracle?

Google+Oracle = uninstall, hell either one on its own is an uninstall - did I just say that out loud - yes!

@2ylx you're kidding right? Why would Google, a pure cloud company, want to acquire legacy on-premises technology and unhappy customers?

They don't have to buy everything. TK can direct what is good and what is not.

Alternatively, they could buy all the c-ap, keep the DB and some cloud stuff and layoff everyone else.

Oracle should sell their Oracle Fusion Cloud portfolio. My research suggests it is worth approximately $17,266.00. I am sure the 16 customers who actually use the products would benefit from increased support. Unfortunately, the DOA portfolio isn't worth much.

And then there the second problem with any possible sale: LE’s overinflated ego. Selling all or part of oracle would be an admission of failure that his fragile narcissism could not stomach. So all of you hoping that you will magically end up being part of another — better — company: get real - the only way that’s gonna happen is by you getting off your butt and finding another job for yourselves at other, much better, companies. What are you waiting for!

@Z8tSXy3-1ucf It is not about the share price but the market cap.

I could see Oracle merging with a HW company or someone like IBM. Also, maybe Google would be bold and buy them? It could really beef up Google cloud by giving them access to a lot of technology (including Java) as well as a lot of customers. With TK now @ Google cloud, this could be a possibility.

If OCI were to be sold, would that explain the layoffs going on in that area?

Seems like the piece that might be in demand, might be OCI!

Oracle as a whole won't be sold..... I am curious if parts and pieces might get sold off. But Oracle seems more eager to k--l off products that risk selling them and competing with them down the road.

There is Just one problem with selling oracle - there would have to be a potential buyer stupid enough to want to pay a premium on what is already an increasing inflated share price. The stock is at best worth $5 a share, so when it gets there and there is still a DB franchise, maybe somebody will see value in paying $5.50 a share to try to resuscitate the DB franchise. Just don’t hold your breath, it may take longer than you would like.

Our best asset was our customers, and that is slipping away.

Anything is for sale! It all depends on the asset, and what someone will pay for it. Our best asset is our people, and that is slipping away.

Microfous or Opentext or private equity is who will buy them.

He is reducing the size and bumping up the share price, splitting the global services, etc. I feel there will be either a sales or a partnership with a bigger shark on the horizon for this old horse.

I guess no one is too big to be sold but I can't imagine Larry would sell his baby, he already has more money than most counties and his ego is larger than his bank account. Besides, who would want to take over this mess of mismanaged and out of date technology? Maybe to get the install base of customers?
