Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Well....we have not filed Chapter 11 yet....Winning

Town Hall meetings scheduled at all regional hubs early next month to discuss savings strategies.

Most will involve pay cuts and some minor reductions in benefits. No we will not eliminate any management positions...more than likely we will need to add some and potentially pay for these new positions with the eliminations of field support positions (Technicians)

During these tough times the focus will be primarily on retaining income generating positions and less so on support. Batten down the hatches boys / girls it's about to get bumpy again.

As of today, all courtesy flushes must stop. Some of you may flush multiple times. In the interest of monetary savings this practice must cease all together. Rankin Road has long been known as having a particular indulgence in this practice, but executed globally the savings will multiply substantially. Thank you all for your continued efforts.

Pay cuts are not a big deal. Lots of qualified people on the sidelines looking for jobs. In addition there are also lots of qualified foreign workers who would be more than happy to work.

There is no big crew change. There were big layoffs over the last 10 years.

With the price of oil where it is at now this becomes an employer market.

Get to work.

Pay cuts probably wouldn't be in their best interests. The staffing turn over would be a crippling blow.

Our supply chain is getting it's azz handed because of the lack of realistic material lead times versus stock turns. Most of us Technicians have watched this Circus for years...and the Inventory Managers.

My do you suppose the DEVIATION WAIVER was created in the first place...it's not because they had all the materials needed to repair build or ship out something that's perfect...its because we didn't have the friggin thing in stock and could not be acquired....and then we cry and cry and point fingers and how did this happen and we all look at each other and wonder when somebody with a set of balls will say it out loud. The last guy who would got fired....but he was correct and we are still being led by a bunch of young graduates that know all the greatest lean strategies and this and that and not how a ripple can turn into a wave. Hey go down to Walmart and buy me two bulk head connectors, and maybe another hermetic seal. Yep we lose more money on lost jobs, traveling and hot shots because of the lack of planning and operational functionality...red tag it and sit on it till we can afford to fix it...I will look like a hero until I need it in the middle of the night. Friggin AMO d---s

Well all righty then this is a great opportunity for everbody to submit their cost saving ideas. I know a lot of you have some great suggestions. The idea doesn’t need to be big as you know, several good ideas enacted across the entire organization can result in significant savings. Why, who knows the job you save just may be your own. Ain’t that right chuck? We want to hear from you, whether it be downgrading to a cheaper bathroom tissue or eliminating company supplied tissue altogether, speak up and don’t be shy. Maybe charge a fee for parking which would also invite carpooling. Purchasing is working hard with vendors and suppliers for cost reductions, but that is a slow process with only incremental returns. Cutting back on janitorial services and asking each of you to be more diligent in your efforts to ckean up after yourselves would set a great example. Lowering the average age of the workforce, cutting back benefits and renegotiateing health care costs would also be a great suggestion. Whatever it may be we are sure there are so many of you out there with great ideas, now would be the time to speak up and be a blue team player.
