Will Chevron keep the accounting department around? I feel like they'll need us because our assets are specialized more than others.

Assets and accounts payable are handled internationally which are Chevron employees.

First of all, get back to work. Didn’t you see the email? ;) Second, If you aren’t crunching numbers for quarter close your job is probably replaceable sooner rather than later.
Reality here is your assets are no more complex than any other majors. Technical and subsurface likely safest for the time being to preserve asset knowledge. Back office and support are in trouble.
Accounting is the easiest thing to absorb in an acquisition and the APC accountants are all toast.
