Chevron - Anadarko merger questions

Anyone know what the anadarko culture is like? It's it compatible or oil and vinegar?

Merger timeline?

Impact to ongoing projects vs. new merger projects?

Do we keep both the woodlands and downtown Chevron offices?

Another driver to move headquarters out of California?

The only thing good in APC is what was gained when it acquired Kerr McGee back in 07. That was truly a deal where the weaker company bought the stronger one. But sadly for us at Chevron - the good ones from KM are long gone for greener pastures. What’s now there is a horrible culture of people that hates each other and their leadership. Just read their site.

@6vpo, I’ve been with Chevron for over 25 years. Yes, we do have many team and project meetings, but the ones I participate in are no waste of time. It all depends whether you really care to serve and do your part to make your job and the company a success. For those who have the attitude you seem to have, it’s all YOU, not the team or the company. You are either part of the problem or a problem solver. Attitude is everything.

If you are an APC employee, I hope you enjoy attending meetings. Lots and lots of meetings, thousands of them where most serve no real purpose at all.

Most of you guys running Anadarko down, watch out. Chevron is keeping the Woodlands office and there is no guarantee who will survive. Chevron and Anadarko are both good companies, but Anadarko's benefits are much better. You guys need to hope Chevron takes the best of both worlds.

Should field personnel need to worry about anything or will it just be same job different hard hat?

Anadarko is the little fish being devoured by the big fish. As in the deep blue sea, the big fish will internalize the better employees and grow from it. The bulk of the carcass will be sh!t out into the ocean as waste for the bottom feeders. Of course, don’t think that all CVX employees are safe. There’s going to be layoffs on both sides.

Hey y’all...Anadarko here. None of us want to go work for CVX, we would rather get laid off and receive a FAT severance. Our benefits are rivaled by no one. 7 weeks vacation. 15% contribution to 401K. CVX can KMA - we enjoyed Anadarko while it lasted. We will all be fine and find jobs elsewhere.

There is no need to worry about Anadarko culture as it is a non-issue

In terms of culture both companies enjoy lots of gifts and entertainment from the service industry.

The Anadarko Woodlands office will be the first asset on the chopping block.

To make this work financially in the quickest time frame Chevron needs to sell the Anadarko building in the Woodlands and clean house on the Anadarko good ole boys.

It doesn't matter what Anadarko's culture is like because they will be assimilated into Chevron's culture. Comply or die.

The only sure thing is that there will be many people being laid off. Some from both companies. This merger is a good investment. With is better than Watson.
