If your internal transfer workflow is already in system, you will not be RIF-ed.

I know of people who pulled it off and dodged the layoff bullet, but you will need good timing and a lot of luck.
HR will tell you to try other open req's and you may get Lucky (or unlucky if you stay) but you need a a connection to help. There's not much on the old Taleo board this week, most reqs are on hold pending Q4 results so it looks like a lot are open but they aren't usually hiring until after Q1 starts.
