I heard somebody saying today they believe they are safe from layoffs because they recently got a raise. I feel sorry for the guy because he couldn't be more wrong. I know of at least two people who got a pay bump at the start of the year and are no longer employed here, because - you guessed it - they were laid off in the latest round.
So if you think you are safe after a raise, think again.
