Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle sinking boat, heading toward sell or close- Yahoo history repeated .

This is first time Oracle is making history an example of poor management firing is happening from last 4-5 months . situation become so unstable no one have any direction and no work from last 4-5 months. it will keep happening till they stop firing and show some direction . But the history will begin after 6 month of stopping of firing . Oracle will struggle to retain good employees, whom they have not fired they will start leaving oracle and peacefully then challenge to get good resources. What kind of management many employees are getting fired and many teams are hiring .

All the best who are still saved and careful before joining sinking Oracle .

The talent walked away awhile ago... for the last 5 years the key software engineers jumped ship.

The writing on the wall was in 2015/2016 ....

Those left have been hanging on by the skin of their teeth. None of the Aquired products where ever integrated. Books cooked and covered by continuous merging of competition. If you can’t beat them buy them....

Except once bought, run it into the ground.

To much political infighting unfortunately.

@YtsHsEH-nbn you are right, but as a long timer at O, I can say that the well being of the employees is no longer a concern, no matter HOW vital they are to a particular product. They don't care that much about the product, so they care even less for the people who support it. And it's the company's loss.

The RIFs are only half the story, a LOT of people are already jumping ship, some groups hit harder than others.

Oracle has deep pockets, but with this crew, when do you think they're going to cut their losses or at least try to get one last blast of bucks out of the company by selling it off, even in pieces? I am waiting for the announcement, but then, I've been through two acquisitions at a previous job some decades ago.

Leader plays many games but golf is not one of them.

Oracle's pockets are not bottomless. Pretty soon they're going to have to start checking underneath the cushions on the sofa for spare change. They're burning through all their cash reserves and will have to start borrowing to keep up the pace of the current stock buyback run-rate. The stock keeps going up but the market capitalization keeps going down. Pretty soon they'll have to take Oracle private again of look for a buyer.

Oracle has deep pockets. It will never allow it to die. Only that more active involvement of LE is required , instead of his delegating things to others and himself enjoying golf. Things will be fine soon.

But what you have pointed is true to the extent that the present round of uncertainty, will also create fear in other good employees (since the present lay-offs does not have a pattern....even talented employees are RIFed) and they may look for other options too.

Its a bit strange that a product teams would lose its original brains, since people are the main assets of a product company. So laying-off talented people does not make much sense.

Do you have a date/month of this imminent doom?

LOL. More sky is falling nonsense from the laid of peanut gallery. You know if you spent this much energy updating your skillset...who knows what you could do with your life.
