Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

2.0 = consolidate & reduce

Hi-level 2.0 talk but zero specifics. We are told customer first, embrace change & learn as much as you can. Read between the lines and don't be naive. Outsource and off shore third party support in Manila and US job reduction is what this means and learn about wireline and wireless. Hans is here for 1 reason only-eliminate US jobs send them overseas. Wireless is next. Hans will make $22m a year to cut and leave in 3 years tops. He is the 2019 version of chainsaw Al Dunlap, a ruthless corporate cost cutter from the 80s. Hans did the same at Erikson. Learn or build a skill that makes you valuable and unique to a company. Use the $8k Vz gives us for education.

Doesn't matter how valuable and unique you think you are. If you cost the company too much money, you are gone. Everyone is replaceable.

Garages have no work. Our slowdown started right about the time Hans did. Verizon wants to eliminate the truck roll. The union was smart to get the contract thru 2023, but for those that can't retire by that time, I don't foresee anything good after that point. Verizon would need a couple of techs, max, by then to fix people's inside wire or cut downed wires blocking traffic by that point. Take as much as you can the next 4.5 years, this is the last contract with Verizon.
