Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

My next trick...

Prior to the next earnings report (April 19th), what are your thoughts on the next thing that's going to be pulled from Larry's magic hat?

With most of what they want to sell at GE complete they will concentrate on

They will not wait. They are doing it now. There will be reorgs along the way which will bring clarity for the final structure.

Why would they keep the Gas Power unit? That business is going to be worth less and less every year. Or is making a profit just not a motivation for GE anymore?

They are keeping the the newly formed gas turbine business unit of Power. They will sell off the remaining business. This we already know. The timing will be over the next 2 years. With most of what they want to sell at GE complete they will concentrate on costs/rightsizing the remaining verticals. This will take a few years with many being transferred from exiting businesses. Try to get in one of the core businesses if you wish to stay at GE.
