Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

BYOD Not Required and is Voluntary

At least that is the direction from home office stated on the Wire. After seeing that today I wonder why I was forced to install it on my $1,000 Galaxy S10.

I have nothing to hide from them so they can look away. The only thing they can fire me over is all the merchandise I order from Amazon instead of spending my money at Walmart or Sams.

One of our associates got called in to the office a few days after she got a new phone and they wanted to know why it wasn’t on the new phone yet!?!? They knew she had a new phone and that the app wasn’t on it!!! I refuse to do it. You are supposed to provide me the tools to do my job

Gotta love all the conspiracy theorist on here thinking that WMT cares what is on your phone! If they want to fire you, all they have to do is watch one of the 100 cameras filming everywhere in the club. You know the associates that eat samples while on the clock, sit in the office for 20 minutes “checking email” when they only have 2 or 3 total to read, and stand around the baler crushing cardboard with 5 other associates... no, WMT is going to risk a lawsuit and lie about what they can see on your phones and fire you for that instead of the other 5 things you do every shift that can and should be written up!!

You work for Walmart Stores Inc and can afford a $1000 phone?

They cannot legally require you to install this on your phone. If your personal phone device becomes a requirement for employment, then they have to provide it. Don’t believe me? Ask a lawyer.

Also, if you choose to download the software, you better read the fine print. I have been told on multiple occasions that if their software is on your phone, they can see your apps, the websites you visit, and your texts. I don’t know if that’s true, but I choose not to install it to maintain privacy just in case.

Going back to the whole "we don't have enough people on the floor", I will tell you management knows better than to tell us we can't have our phones. Have you ever tried to get through to a manager by just calling the club? Now imagine if it were a family emergency and they're trying to reach you. That place can't answer in a timely manner. When they can, I'll gladly put my phone I my locker.

We had a manager at my club going around telling associates that it was required. It is voluntary! I have already helped several associates remove it from their phones.

Just another cost cutting move for Sam's. Too many people are quite literally stealing from the company by being on their phone while clocked in! Their phones should be secured while clocked in.

So I'm a long term associate & over 50 I love BYOD. I think we are headed in the right direction, sorry everyone is whining about it. Truly pisses me off especially when I see people on their phones on the clock...that won't download because they think the company is watching them, which they don't but guess what the cameras do. We have come a long way I'm proud of our company for stepping up and moving forward. I worked in marketing years ago. All paper BS..couldn't even send a email. I care about this company I have raised a family on the income I made at Sam's. They have taken care of me plenty of times. So if you don't want to move forward with us please leave and don't drag the rest of us down. You download games and apps that have more "permissions" that Sam's apps will ever require. I love the apps they make my work day and many others so much easier. Just look at it with a open mind and a benefit to yourself because it is.

You have some inexperience leads telling some associates that is required for people to download that app in order to keep their position I heard it coming out of somebody's mouth I just laughed really!common Sense tells you they cannot make you download something to your private phone but they can make your job miserable for not

@1yvf ... market managers are tools who don't know how to think for themselves or speak up against what is ethically wrong, let alone even know what's ethically wrong. They get behind the scenes kudos for their efforts in getting associates to follow their directives through "hidden" retailiation.

They say it was voluntary, yet I saw a printed email that a MM wrote to management that each Club was required to sign up fifty (50) associates for BYOD. So I question voluntary. I wish I could get my hands on that email.

Did someone hold a gun to your head? Don't get me wrong..I'm 10000% against installing it and will not. I don't think anyone should. But don't say they forced you because I'm sure you're an adult and could have said no...don't touch my f*cking phone. And if you were held at gun point, then my sincere apologies for mocking u. As for everyone else, unistall that sh-- from your phone if you were stuoid enough to put it on. Every one is afraid is crazy! We clearly don't know what our worth would be as a whole because everyone is so damn scared of the consequences. Its Sams Club. If it was Costco that pays greta with great benefits, Id understand the fear. Everyones scared about the post about the walk out ..well, they cant fire everyone. But the sad truth is you people wont stand for anything. Power in numbers. Its not for the weak.
