Just a wild guess, but my take on the situation is that, after the shifts on the club management level and new scheduling system the next step will be eliminating a certain number of associates at certain clubs. How possible is that scenario? Seems logic and goes hand in hand with their “do more with less” philosophy.

Obviously you people that are bashing full time employees have never earned anything in your work life! I believe if you have stuck through everything for ten or twenty years you deserve a perk or two! The full timer is the person that has built up this business and given you a place to work! Look in the mirror and tell me what you would want to happen if you were in their shoes. No respect or loyalty for all the hard work and time you have given Sam’s it’s a Damn shame!
Get a life!
Sure!! And they should start with every single nit wit who thinks about walking out
I think its funny how long term assocites are getting bashed on these sites. They have put there time in and has way more knowledge then these few yr or less assoc will ever have. If they have worked themselves up into a position that has weekends off good for them . STOP HATING AND BEING JEALOUS. Start working harder , focus on yourself and stop worring about what everyone else has or don't have and "MAYBE" you can too one day will have weekends off.
16 years here and work every weekend except vacation.
They don't have to trim the head count. They trim themselves.
Im a long term associate and with weekends nights and overnight. The only time I get a weekend of is for vacation. I usually coffee 3 to 4 nights a week. If you're club does someone different classes your managers. This is why im excited for back scheduling, 25 years plus working weekends and evenings but knowing your schedule. I might get a lift beyond Sam's club.
Let's remember they're long time associates for a reason & I'm sure they have worked a rotation schedule before. At least they're dependable
They already have a list per club of how many ft/ pt needed. They say we are over 20 fulltime and short 27 part time. The clubs have to come inline or the block schedule system will not work.
The way you release long term partners is don't give them a set schedule. Schedule them to work weekends and opening and closing on a rotation basis like everyone else and see them drop on their own. Just saying...
They'll get more work out of 'long timers' anytime they're scheduled vs the call in every weekend, 'I can't drive a forklift' Eyes constantly in their cell phone... rude @$$ short timers!
Very likely they will cut some of the full time positions so they can eliminate the long term entitled, I don't work weekend long times.
