Is Severance offered?

Is severance being offered to those being effected by the 3rd shift elimination? The managers in our club have yet to really give us any information about the change. I have to work 3rd shift because of my home life and I have heard rumors of there being a severance offered but can't get any answers from our store manager. Can anyone help me out with an answer please..

Why are we being told no severance is being offered? I'm thinking they are hoping people will leave before this so they don't have to pay them the severance... a scare tactic if you will. I think its bs that other clubs were given a severance for the shift change but now they are not giving them out.

Yes they do offer severance. It will be a week for every year. They will not give you a exact amount. It will go off of your last 12 weeks average worked hours.

If the company offers you a job with same or more pay and you refuse, severance is off the table, regardless of shift

My job is an OVERNIGHT merchandiser , availability 9pm-6am, not a floor merchandiser who has to have open availability ( open to close ) Therefore they are eliminating my shift/ my job.

They offered severance to receiving, clerk and claims. If they did for them they will for overnights.

You could be in line for a severance offer since you are coded as Receiving. I guess it will depend on if they classify your job as daylight dock associate. I have zero issues with the company offering a severance package to overnight associates, I say good for them. I just want everyone I work with now and in the future to work better together and stop the mentally of it’s not my job or my department. At the end of the day, we all want to do the best we can, and then go home to be with our loved ones. I hope things work out for you man.

They are in a way though "eliminating " my job. I'm the overnight receiving dock associate for my club. They will technically no longer have that possition.

Eliminating a shift is far different than eliminating a job. So you mean to tell me that if the company decides to no longer have floor associates come in at 7am to zone and provide member service, and we will now only be scheduled after 1pm to close, that they will offer me a severance package? I mean, they just eliminated an entire shift.... I think your eliminating a shift theory is misguided.

Yes it is an elimination, they are eliminating an entire shift.

my club was a test club for the company so the overnight people who didn't want to work it were able to transfer to other clubs. I doubt there will be an severance as the company isn't looking at it as an elimination but rather an redistribution of work.
