Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle has given up the innovation game years ago

Oracle is a sales company with some software in tow - not a software company. They have given up the innovation game years ago. Their goal is to put out the bare minimum product, and then let their sales teams sell it to Enterprise executives scared of small startups or open source (perhaps rightlfully so?) over some expensive wine and meals.

I mean, a CTO could use Postgres, but no one gets hired to the C-Suite for saving money on licenses. After all it's nice to go to SF for Openworld and feel important in San Francisco. Is Apache going to do that for you? Heck no.

This is a part of a post that I reposted from another thread. OP is @Y9Icaus-1psq

I believe our Blockchain stuff was all home-grown. I'm not sure how innovative it is versus being what everyone else is doing with Fabric.

The autonomous db stuff is somewhat innovative. didn't we do that ourselves as well?

He was clever funding then buying Netsuite, which could not have been developed in house and certainly not so lucratively for him. But that was long ago thinking of that. Time passes. Brilliance softens.

Absolutely, no innovation at Oracle. Oracle is just an acquisition machine. LE sees tech as something he can just buy. It gets absorbed into Oracle and eventually destroyed. Nothing good ever gets developed in-house. The engineering organization is c-ap, just a bunch of clueless thugs jockeying for territory.
