When GM was going about laying off thousands of people, they said that they had been contacted by many companies that were anxious to hire the laid off GM employees. Did GM ever post a list of these companies? Has anyone seen it? Or was this just more BS from the "honest and transparent" GM?

Beaumont supposedly pledged to hire a large number but I think it was just to get press. Know of a number of people who applied to positions and never even got called
I work for someone in their 60's, and they can run circles around the younger crowd. Jobs are available for the multi-faceted, non-one trick pony employees. If you've only done one thing all your career, it's going to be challenging, especially while the pendulum swings and other way, and the economy contracts.
Envision 2008, but worse. We've only started.
Beaumont was the only firm I heard about that was hoping to hire many of the laid off GM workers. Generally, this translates to IT workers and perhaps a few Engineers that would fit that domain...I personally have not seen anything applicable from an Engineering perspective.
Companies want to hire 30 year olds. Let someone get out of college, get their first job to get their feet wet and get some real world experience and THEN hire them.
The number of positions for true senior-level people isn't much. Even positions with "senior" in the title require under 10 years of experience.
@YSgWJ2P-3pby - You are not alone. Most companies will throw out the resumes if they even think you are over 40 years old. What I find amusing is that when I talk to individuals from various organizations, all they talk about is how useless/lazy/entitled their millennial employees are and how they wish they could get rid of them.
Have to laugh at that irony (stupidity)!
50 years old. I'm still unemployed, have submitted for more than 75 positions. I've had one physical interview, one phone call. I've been gradually increasing the acceptable commute distance and lowering base pay requirements when required to input on the application. I pray for all of us to land somewhere.
More gm lies!
Walmart?
I am older and I had a job within a month. There are a lot of jobs out there but pay and benefits are not as good.
They’re not really interested in hiring the “older” worker, which many of the layoffs were.
That wasn't necessary , people are unemployed and are looking for a job , would you rather them stay unemployed and be bums ?
Some day children need to wean from their mummies teats and grow up
