Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

What I am hoping for is that I get the best of both worlds

What I am hoping for is that I get the best of both worlds. I hope they lay me off and I get a severance package and a couple months off with pay. Because I've been at the company a long time. Meanwhile, that gives me time to look for another job. While sitting on my a-- and going to interviews. That would be great. I don't care about this company anymore. They stopped caring a long time ago. Why should I care anymore?

Too bad it doesn’t work in real life as @YBbVSr4-2ozn , but I’m glad to see that people stopped caring after all that they’ve done to us.

Having skills that are in demand is critical and then it is a matter of timing. After the layoff announcements many (tech) colleagues were being cold called for interviews and receiving offers from companies who were willing to wait 2-3 months for a start date because the job market (for tech) is that hot. Most increased their salary and some even received signing bonuses. Timing it right enables collection of double income (salary and severance) for a short period.
