Lowe’s m.o. seems to be to “Thin the herd”, so to speak, by systematically pushing Associates out through petty write ups and behind the scenes harassment. And then lay off the rest.
At my store, they seem to be pushing out the Sales Specialists. In three months down from 11 Specialists to 5. As soon as they get rid of one, they focus their efforts on the next. They do keep up the facade that they are going find a replacement, but I suspect it is all phony. I do have one Appliance Sales Specialist who is p-ss-d that they have him shuffling between flooring and appliances for the last two months. Now, they got rid of one of the cabinet specialists and are having him cover that dept.
Mind you, I am in a $50 mil.+ store in region 27(the perpetual test zone). They figure that if they can pull it off here, they can pull it off anywhere. Based on what I have seen, I suspect you hear the next phase being that they will have “Zone Specialists” with PT CSAs and seasonal associates providing the bulk of the coverage.
