you were surplussed without the option to relocate, then the company hired for your title in another location.
I’m seeing a lot of instances where this is happening. I know there are people not in a position to move but for those who are this is a slap in the face.
I filed a small claim last year for 5000 for surplus for pain and suffering and at&t didn’t even show so i one by default!
The cwa is the weakest union anywhere, they just bend over and take it while rigging elections to get their guys in power while selling out those doing the work.
They are worse than useless and has allowed the company to fire anyone for any reason.
A management tactic they use is to rehire with a different title, but of course the person has to fulfill the job responsibilities of the person laid off. May have stirred the pot a little if people would not approve those generic “job description validations” they require every year or two, but doubt it would have changed the practice overall.
I run into people all the time that think our jobs are protected by the CWA---WHAT A JOKE

I disagree with a lawsuit. We do have the option to apply for a position outside of a reasonable commute distance. Follow the work is protected by represented employees. When positions are lost, they are gone. My position was immediately filled before I went off of the payroll to.
yep happened to me. hired new people in my org and gave them my job and I was relinquished to doing stuff that had nothing to do with my skills. happens all the time all over the company. so i quit I can only take being treated sub-human for so long. the new people have no pension.
happened to me, it has been a big puzzle to me ever since then how i lost a job for no valid reason.
