Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Anything at DirecTV?

Getting really stressed out with all the rumors circulating. Big headcount reduction, merging wit WM, a selloff… al of the rumors don’t have to turn out to brue but something is definitely cooking. Any info on possible DTV layoffs in the near future, or info regarding the faith of DTV in general?

Maybe the problems have something to do with the name Osprey? We should try something more in line with our corporate culture and call it pterodactyl

Osprey may be due for 4th quarter, but it was supposed to already be in customer testing by March and well, it's March and there's no customer testing. Several of the internal employee testers have returned the boxes because they are so bad. Even if we do launch Osprey on time, it won't be a reliable product for quite some time.

You would think the customer just needs to plug it in but T has started doing service just bring out a modem or a phone. They will probably do the same here.

The Osprey OTT box is due out by 4th quarter which gives the full DTV lineup without need for dish or truck roll. Customer gets the box in the mail, plugs it to their router and it's done just us legacy D Techs.

Classic DTV has been a boat anchor. ATT bought it for the content to stream, not the calssic satellite product. Classic DTV will be blown-up here shortly. Satellites will be sold. If you are not deeply involved w/TW integration or hardcore DTVNOW streaming, you're as good as gone

We all work for AT&T so of course the possibility of being surplussed is always on the table. Get used to it and keep your skill set up-to-date.
