Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Senior technical process/ quality mngr

If the big wigs at at&t new of their senior technical process managers were doing working from home , they would all be surprised. The ones I know only work 4-5 hours a day , the rest of the time there shopping and watching tv.

It’s pays the bills at my house and really, that’s what’s important to me. I took to heart what our former BellSouth CEO said. If you want loyalty, get a dog.

WFH and working the system has always been a joke for many managers and still is: hair appts, coaching, babysitting, working second jobs, going thru divorces, doing non-work while home and can go on and on. Non-management know how to work MSOC too and on computer doing non-work things like facebook, instagram, football, shopping, etc. Rest of us working honestly and waiting to see if your name on list.

If you dont have sweat on your brow and dirty hands you will be fired. Work, that will keep you enployed. If your afraid of work leave now.

1jol - no, these are the people who spend their time socializing in the office and taking endless long walks.

I’ve seen so many people sitting on the office doing on line shopping, playing games, reading the newspaper on line. People goof off wherever and whenever they can. Stop trashing the people who work from home & really work! I w people who work on the office & they take 2 hours to answer because they’re out socializing. Or is collaborating 😂

I know folks with this title in groups where everyone was retitled to it. It is a catch all title and isn’t indicative of what they are actually doing. A few are working their a-- off, and their peers are doing little to nothing but annoying the rest of us. Same could be said of other titles.. The titles in ATO don’t represent what someone is doing or not doing. It is too bad they used titles in this last surplus round as criteria in some groups.

1hwq - Either the person is busy, or hosting calls, or working on deliverables just like you in your super important job, or your q is prob ignored for a while because you are asking a question you could answer yourself given some effort. Otherwise if your q is so urgent maybe it should be an email or phone call. If that doesnt work and the behavior continues, escalate. I agree there are a few in many positions that abuse their privilege but calling out a single title is just ignorant.

Unfortunatelly this is somewhat true. go around the office and those that took 2 hrs to answer a q and another 2hrs to answer the follow-up q don't care too much about losing telecommuting. They just see it as getting back to work which is something they should have done anyway. For the rest who did the work. I woudn't mind if the company used metrics and kept it 1 on 1 with our supervisor. The company is already traking our every move why not reward those that appreciate and value telecommuting without abusing the system.

Totally true and unbelievable!i have several friends who have been with at&t bragging to have the luxury to work from while doing online shopping, running errands like picking up kids from school, grocery shopping, playing stocks or fulfilling their hobbies like carpentry or interior house painting. And how did the CEOs and upper mgmt afford to get bonuses while laying off people who feeds their families and take care of their ill family members?

Wait? You claim they "work" 4-5 hours a day? By me they technically process and qualify for maybe 3 hours a day if that. Total waste of time they bring nothing to the table .

From what is written here, it seems to confirm that its the same on every market. On mine, people in this title most of them are “monarchs” that had been ousted from their thrones and have seek and find refuge in this “no one knows what really he/she does “ process quality mgr. Lol. Salaries wasted!!
