If anybody who quit is still checking this forum - any regrets? Is the grass really greener? I'm really close to making the decision to leave myself, but I keep worrying that I'll be making a huge mistake.

Zero regrets! I didn't realize how bad things were at GF until I left. I left semiconductor entirely, and, honestly, I didn't know things could be this good in life. I'm making less money, but it is more than offset by the lower cost of living where I am now. My wife and kids hated upstate NY, and the weather is so much better here as well. We're able to actually do stuff outside year-round. I just cannot say how much my life improved by leaving. I'm also thankful that I bailed almost a year ago when I could still sell my house. When things tank at Fab 8, and they will, houses are going to be harder to sell in Saratoga County. That will be double if the economy as a whole takes a bit of a dive as well.
I left. Best decision I ever made.
I got picked up by a tool vendor in a much nicer area to live. Not knocking GF, but the grass can be greener.
That "not fully invested" comment is manipulive managerial speak. Don't try to guilt trip people for looking!
These days you have to constantly monitor the market and update your resume quarterly.
Miss friends, not the company. I moved to a larger company where I can go directly to the ceo if it’s required, lowest level employees are empowered. It’s exciting. Only regret staying as long as I did. Best of luck.
GF made the decision for me this past summer, but it has been great. While all jobs are still jobs (the politics, people, processes, etc are all the same), most are better than working at GF.
While I have to commute further, I was able to leave semiconductors and try something new. Sure has been nice. GF was toxic. The inexperienced management, and lack of company made it difficult to come to work every day.
Change is a scary thing but the fact that you are looking shows you are not fully invested. Going to work should be an enjoyable endeavor, you spend a lot of your day there. Save up some emergency fund to fall back on, then take the plunge. Many have left, connect with them on LinkedIn, good luck to you.
