Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hans is now the chairman too

Verizon BoD elected Hans as the chairman of the company, and this decision will be effective from March 8th. Hans is succeeding Lowell McAdam who is retiring from the company. More power in Hans’s hands, how does that sound?

You all are Doomed .. you should of taken the VSP .. save everything you make going forward .. if you are below 55 yrs old you don't have a chance of retiring from the once great VZ ...

"Great news. Finally Verizon has a leader to make us the top technology company in the wireless world."

Could we get an opinion from someone who DOESN'T sleep in the same house Hans does?

The stock went up when he ran Ericsson, AT FIRST. Then the id--t laid off so many people that they couldn't take care of their customers and he was involved in shady deals. Ericsson's stock tanked. When the investigators were closing in, the company ran him off. Almost immediately Verizon hired him. Now he's already on the same path, making the same mistakes that he made at Ericsson. With Hans, Verizon is doomed.

Great news. Finally Verizon has a leader to make us the top technology company in the wireless world. Great time to be on the V team. I have been with Verizon for 35 years (started with NYTel) and plan to stay to be part of the great changes that Hans is initiating. Never have been afraid of a layoff. There are too many paranoid folks on this site. Looking forward to that 25 share payout in March. Keep it up Hans!

Hans is from Sweden which a country that was neutral in WWII, a war which occurred before he was even born.

Also, it's "Sieg Hiel".

I think Lowell's departure was mandatory due to his age. He's serving until May and per Wikipedia he turns 65 in May. Something something board bylaws something.

This is a good thing. VZ made significant financial mistakes under Lowell's guidance. The company needs to keep purging.

1) Bad for employees (expect more layoffs and less benefits)

2) Great for shareholders (expect higher profits) - heck the Dow is down 250 pts but VZ is up. Enough said
