Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Has it happened?

Has the beginning of the end really happened? Only the future will tell us. However....

What is tearing the company apart is, the company cannot figure out what its identity is. One minute they are all about the business member, the next time it’s all about the advantage member, they continue to flip flop, Costco on the other hand has held true to who they are.

Then you have people working from the WalMart division coming the the Sam’s Club side to get promoted and make a name for themself. WalMert and Sam’s Club are not the same and interchangeable. Both has their own identity, philosophy, and shopper they want to attract.

Lastly and most importantly, they have lost their way because they no longer listen to the associates. Associates have become numbers to MOST of the Market Managers and up (there are still a few great ones but they will be forced out too because they have an opinion that may not be in alignment with the others). Sam Walton said.... Leaders must always put their people before themselves. If you do that, your business will take care of itself. He also stated......The key to success is to get out into the store and listen to what the associates have to say. It's terribly important for everyone to get involved. Our best ideas come from associates.

John and Gizele, start listening instead of ignoring them, thinking you know all, you may accutally learn something.

Everyone so quick to call ethics on managers and supervisors wondering why not call them on Geisel & John they the ones making the decisions. Us lower underpaid folks just trying to make a buck. Trust me I’m not driving a Mercedes or flying around in a jet. This is just a underpaid overworked just trying to keep my job and follow direction from the folks constantly changing sh--.

Sam’s club as long ago stopped being Sam Walton’s vision ! He would be so disappointed in how his company has fallen! He was in business for his members, but he was there for the associates as well! We no longer have that! The people making the decisions to cut certain jobs more than likely never worked in a club and have no idea the impact their bad decisions have cost all of us ! We are told they hate to see all of the associates leave that have all the knowledge... yet they hire people and don’t train them. Respect for the individual is a joke ... I get the managers are getting extra stuff dumped on them because of all the cuts through the club... but we have some that are so out of control and no one does anything ! I am sad to see this happen ... this isn’t the Sam’s Club I started working for over 30 years ago ! We used to feel like a family ... that is gone probably forever !

Attention all Sam’s Club associates :

Keep watching for posts generated by my group of organizers.

We will be starting a petition, letting our upper management know we are tired and ready to be heard.

Tell all fellow associates to unite and band together.

Being that associates are not listened to anymore like sam Walton listened to his people which he called the idea generators. We now should not be called associates no longer... associates to sam Walton were to him part owners and taking ownership of their club... we are now numbers and employees...

Great post, but John and Giselle are too far gone. They have boss syndrome not leadership skills. There is a huge difference that they will never see....

This is a review of both stores with in depth pictures of both Costco and Sam's Club. You might be surprised by which store looked better. However the reason Costco succeeds where Sam's is flailing is because Costco didn't chase low income areas.
