Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Once LS took the helm as the leader, it has gone downhill ever since

....Sadly Walmart was once a great place to work with tremendous career possibilities. However, once LS took the helm as the leader, it has gone down hill ever since. It used to be a great TEAM environment where if you worked hard, there were opportunities to grow yourself and support your family....but now not so much.....

it is everyone for themselves with no concern for what keeps them in business - the Associates in the stores and warehouses - They are the ones that kept this company afloat. I would like to see a robot care for and show empathy to a customer, see a self checkout make a kid or elderly person smile, with all the technology being put into place I wonder who is going to be there to show a positive outlook to someone (customer or associate) that is having a rough day.

Yes the Old days when you could have a career at Walmart are over......but they don't have to be if the right people were in charge.

@ Mary Jenner - you are spot on correct. What is the old Walmart expression - at Walmart, we celebrate mediocrity. Should be fun to watch. But, I fear that is how all of American society is going these days - we all fiddle (focused on identity politics, diversity & inclusion, etc ...), while Rome (the United States) burns to the ground. I give it 10 years before it all comes crashing down. Plan accordingly.

WMT is a political action committee. All WMT management cares about is identity politics, diversity & inclusion, and equality of results. That's it. The best way to survive in this environment is to do an "Elizabeth Warren" - claim you are a member of some minority group. Then add in a female gender or trans-s-xual gender, and you now have job security. Hell, as a man, I'd be willing to wear a dress and high heels in order to keep my job - I would be a really ugly woman. I then would tell people that I am transitioning, taking estrogen, and would ask people to stop making fun of my appearance. Then, I would file an ethics complaint for descrimination, citing all of the people making fun of me - all nasty micro-aggressions. I would have a job for life.

Agreed, treating good employees like sh-- and watching them all leave is what will finally sink this ship. Good employees deserve raises, and no 2% is not a raise, it's inflation. Good reliable employees do NOT deserve to have their accrued sick time stolen just because it will make the shareholders an extra buck. Walmart is sacrificing the long term success of the company in the name of profit for shareholders today. Honestly anyone with Walmart stock needs to sell now, this company has nowhere to go but down with its current leadership and never ending greed.

Change is one thing. Treating your people like dirt and not listening to them is another.

Bottom line, for the entire history of the company our people have made the difference. But now leadership doesn’t trust them anymore and instead says they are the reason Walmart fell behind.

The reason for the Company's struggles are the consultants that run the Company now. The 3rd generation of Waltons have little real world experience. They are letting the social justice warrior consultants run the Company. We only care about identity politics, diversity & inclusion and equality of results - nobody cares about the actual business.

Have you looked at Sears, Toys R Us, JC Penny’s, Radio Shack, KMart...etc

Dead...or dying quickly, JCP might survive..others are dead or soon to be..companies have to change or they did, this is not the company Sam tan because it can’t be in today’s world.

Still many good careers to be had at WM. I can understand if a person does not choose one as it’s not for everyone. But saying there are none is inaccurate.

Who is LS? No doubt this company is in a downward spiral. The leadership seems to think the only way to boost profits is to take things away from its "associates". They saved around a BILLION $ by stealing our accrued sick time alone. Really is sad what this company is turning into and the c-ap they are allowed to get away with.
