Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Lack of experience

I worked a Data Center at VZ for a long time. They let everyone go over the years until I was the last man. I took the VSP. No one else knows anything about it. No plans were made, no information shared. Verizon’s networks will go down frequently and take much longer to fix. Word.

Good and accurate post @Xs4UldS-3trz . Things like this are happening in other parts of the company too. It won’t be too long before the lack of knowledge and experience becomes visible to the customers.

I'm part of the March wave. We're facing a lot of demoralization the department where I work because not only are the more knowledgeable leaving or they've already left, but there isn't really a transition plan in place for training up the folks who remain. Mostly we're just being left out and ignored. I cannot be happier to leave due to the manager showing us the company's true colors.

Omni is such a c-ap program. Issue after issue and tickets never get resolved or we have to wait for a “fix” and hope it doesn’t crash.

Hiring new people to replace tenured people that have no idea what they are talking about seems to be the fix that 2.0 has in place.

I almost wish I didn't VSP, just to see the ship sink and watch management scramble.

But, nevertheless, gonna enjoy my lump sum while I work elsewhere.

I think they are ok with the risk i.e. more incidents with longer times to resolve. Since sunday atleast 5 people from our group are working ungodly hours to resolve the problem. Its still unresolved as these problems cascade from one thing to the other
