Oracle layoff package UK?

Hi all,

I've been hearing that the UK has a decent package etc, but does anyone know how much is it etc?

Also, do you guys know what happens to a consultant that at some point decides that can't travel anymore (and there are no other positions etc...). Would he or she get the same layoff package, or would ORCL go for disciplinary etc...?

Thanks!!

The internal rules for the UK business around redundancy are basically the same for all staff regardless of length of service. You might get more if a lot of people are going at the same time as they will add money to compensate for not consulting for the longer period required. They’ll want you to sign a compromise agreement (saying you will not take legal action later) and will give you money extra to cover your legal advisor to check over the agreement. The sum offered will be way more than the legal minimum, I haven’t met anyone who has been unhappy with the amount offered to them.

Over the years I have heard different packages for different teams. I don’t believe there is any one set of rules or criteria to determine a package. Most likely depends on your grade, tenure and how HR are feeling on the day!

I know one U.K. guy that got 6 months pay as redundancy. He had around a dozen years service. This was 18 months back

In the past ive seen 1 month per year worked as a redundancy package in the UK. Although there is nothing written down anywhere so there is nothing to prevent them giving you the government minimum.

If travel is part of your job description then that would certainly result in disciplinary if you refused to travel.
