Severance

What is the severance and do you have to work until 3/29 while you are looking for another job?

I had a few hours here and there of PTO paid on top of my usual 40 hours on paychecks throughout the year. When it came time for severance I was quoted ....., then when I signed severance it's was $2500 more than the quote.Score! Covered my taxes though, so it was as if I got the full amount.

Sorry to all those hard workers who have been eliminated....what is happening is disgusting....my advise is to work as many hours as you can these final 7 weeks. Bump your weekly average as high as possible...screw them..

stay on the clock when ya go home.....go in eta and inflate your hours.....screw Sams

I am a former receiving lead, when we were told our poison was eliminated our Mgr. gave us a letter at the time that showed how much our severance would be , it showed our weekly avg. hours. Ask your Mgr. for that letter, they should have given it to you yesterday.

Last time on this site. I’m sick of the polish dog jokes and people calling each other clueless and being insulting. Good luck .

Don't forget- years of service is minus your LOA time. So my 18.5 years will drop to approximately 17.8 years = 17 weeks of severance.

SGW-kid you may be PTC, however you're also incorrect. Your rate of pay×weekly average hrs (calculated for last 12 wks including weeks starting now to 3/29)× yrs of service. You have until 3/29 to secure a position in sams/walmart or take severance. You do have to work until final day unless CM and you agree on earlier release date. Request CM submit for your severance packet asap (requesting packet does not mean you're 100% accepting Severance, you are entitled to the information ) . After final date worked you will be emailed/us mailed your release and separation agreement. If you are 39 or under you have 15 days from date you open email to docu sign or 15 days to sign and return form in mail. Those 40 and over have 45 days to do the same, docu sign or mail forms. If your signed forms are not submitted by the 15th or 45th day the company determines your are forfeiting the severance and you receive nothing. There is no grace period. The 15 or 45 day period for return is an employment law. Best of luck!

Ok so previous answer, you are clueless.

Severance pkg is yearsxhourly ratexaverage hours worked over the last 12 weeks. If you are under 39 yrs old you have to decide by the 21 of Feb if you are taking severance. Im a PTC and I’m looking in and out of the company.

The severance will be one week’s pay for every year you’ve worked. It goes by how many hours you averaged over the last 12 weeks (x your hourly rate of pay). There are “questions and answers” the manager can give you that he or she received. You have until March 29 to find another job at Sam’s or to accept the severance. Don’t wait until the last minute to request the severance. It is a letter you’d sign and mail back. It must be postmarked by the 29th or you won’t get severance.

Yes, you hav5e to work up until the date unless your GM and market manager agree to let you go earlier. 1 weeks pay for every year you worked. Example 28 years 28 weeks of pay.
