Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Walmart is the biggest employer because its workers work for scratch

Did a little research and talked to some people I know that work for other retail companies. Everybody makes better money than us at Walmart, not to mention better conditions, bonuses, benefits. From what I’ve seen is that WM spends to pay three workers other companies spend to pay two. No wonder WM is the biggest employes given that it gets its massive workforce for basically scratch.

Not an accurate post at all. Walmart pays well & has a very generous health plan for the retail sector. Not to mention the option to promote into other positions within the entire corporation. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it the best if the best...... that s always subjective. Does it hold people accountable? Sure - what business doesn’t? Dies it make structure changes with staff? Again, yes. Who doesn’t in today’s reach for the online pie. Does it force anyone to fill out an application? Nope. Dies it force anyone who doesn’t like it to stay? Nope.

There are those with real issues as a result of the company change. Those things are real. Not being real? No so much......time to move on

Actually Walmart pay is fair. The treatment of associates is what s---s. Not going to change. It is a family business, and the family wants their money. Seems fair to me. It is their inheritance. They have every right to piss it all away.

I've worked for Walmart 26+ yrs. My husband worked for Target for 22+ yrs. We both got hired around the same time. My husband left Target because they had steadily reduced his hours and stopped giving raises. So NO Target does not pay their employees better than Walmart. The few people that chose to stay at Target only get 16 hrs a week and have not had any raises in 4 yrs. My cousin works for Kohl's and Marshalls and between both jobs, still does not work 40 hrs a week. So again NO other retailers do not pay better!!

@yst I beg to differ. First off, slavery was, is and will be forever wrong. When the U.S. had slavery, the people were housed and fed and clothed. No company in their right mind would do that today. The costs would be enormous to not only feed and house but to also pay a wage?

WM would rather let their associates fight over what crumbs fall into the stores and keep the other 99% at the top of the WM hierarchical food chain.

@ itiq,

There's nothing about your opinions that bother me, but it is funny to consider the stream of urine that would fill your shoes if you once had the nerve to speak your trash to a real person's face.

Not that that will ever happen, you coward.

  1. Can you at least try to utilize English properly? How lazy are you at work if typing a coherent sentence is too much work? No wonder you hate working at WM...

  2. Slavery? I’ll let the stupidity of that post stand on its own merit...

Listen, I say this in no way as an exaggeration: Walmart would re legalize literal SLAVERY if they could. That is how demonically greedy they are.

It's pretty obvious that there is an element of truth to the OP. Compare the employees at Target to those at Walmart. It's obvious Target has both happier and better employees. Between relying on temp services to stay staffed and doing away with d--g testing it's obvious Walmart is sc-aping the bottom of the barrel with its new hires.

If that were true, which it isn’t, then Walmart also employs the stupidest, most ignorant workers in retail. If WM wages weren’t competitive then no one would work for the company because they would earn higher wages elsewhere. So WM workers are either stupid for knowingly working for less money or ignorant because they don’t know they can earn more elsewhere.

The truth is that WM is no better or worse than any other major retailer. Some stores have better management than others and others have worse than average. People are going to complain no matter what.

WM does not and can not force anyone to work for them. Anyone who doesn’t like their job is free to find another.

That is false. There are many retail jobs that pay less and offer less hours and benefits than Walmart does.
