Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle Alumni

Do we have or could we start an Oracle Alumni group that offers mentor ship, guidance, references to helps people wishing to move out of Oracle or within. In most companies outside, there are always big observable number of Oracle Alumni working (Salesforce, workday etc.). If we only had a network of Ex Oraclites, who are willing to network & extend help.

If are networked, be careful who you are supporting. There are a lot of people at Oracle with problems. You don't want to import those problems into your new workspace.

There used to be a very active Oracle Alumni group on Yahoo, which was a good resource for hiring ex-ORCL people . I don't think that exists these days

Club Ex-Oracle was an Oracle Switzerland thing and pretty small

Well, there is this group already. I haven’t bothered joining (I am ex O). Anyone here know if it is useful?

While it is a great idea, most of severance agreements contain the clause along the lines of not badmouthing Oracle and not recruiting employees. So I can imagine people being wary of networking openly.

Interestingly enough, there is an Oracle Malaga Alumni group on LinkedIn. Looks like the turnaround in OD hubs provides lots of potential members :-)
