I was not on the list this time but pretty sure my number will be up next round. What was the severance package - 6 month pay and 6 month medical benefits?

Can you still get (California) unemployment insurance, or does the company fight that if you take their severance package?
Company only pays for medical up until the end of the month you leave. You will get a package in the mail offering two different options for medical, the company group medical plan vs COBRA. Either way you have to pay for medical even if you retire. The company group medical is cheaper than COBRA.

Its 4% of your base pay for every year, up to 12 years. If you're 13 or more years, you're capped at 50%. So in essence you get 1 paycheck for each year as severance.
